Request a DMCA Takedown if Content Is Stolen
If the fake website is using your copyrighted content, you can file a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown request. This process asks the hosting provider to remove the infringing content.
To submit a DMCA complaint:
- Use a free DMCA takedown generator: https://www.dmca.com/Takedowns
- If the website is indexed by Google, submit a request to remove it from search results: https://support.google.com/legal/troubleshooter/1114905
When submitting a DMCA request, include:
- A link to your original content
- A link to the stolen content on the fraudulent website
- A statement that you own the rights to the content
