Memberships is Webflow's user-accounts capability.
As of Nov-2022, Memberships is in BETA is mid-development on a lot of important features, but it is available to experiment with for those who request a BETA invite.
Capabilities
When Memberships is completed, the goal appears to be this feature set;
- Account creation
- > Ability for website visitors to create an account, tied to their email address
- > > Ability to setup a recurring payment for PAID memberships, as an e-commerce function
- > Ability for the site admin to invite users to an account, by their email address
- Membership levels
- > Ability to designate access groups, e.g. "free", "silver", "gold" that designate the degree and type of access you want to give that set of users.
- Login/logout, using the email and a password the user has chosen
Gated Content
"Gating" content means restricting access so that only specific people can see it.
- Levels of gating - the WHO of access control
- > Logged in users v. Public ( not logged-in ) users
- > Specific Access-Groups
- > MAYBE Specific Users
- Type of content that can be gated - the WHAT of access control
- > Static pages
- > Collection pages
- > Components ( e.g. a DIV on a page )
- > Individual Collection Items
