Just the basics.
As of Nov-2022, Webflow still only has in-built support for two specific icon formats, which are;
- 32x32 PNG
- 256x256 PNG
In your published page, these generate as;
Do Webflow's Favicons Meet Google's Requirements?
Well, technically, no.
There are two places that Webflow's icons violate Google's requirements;
- Google requires icons that are a multiple of 48x48.
- > Neither the 32x or the 256x meet that requirement.
- Google requires that favicons are served from the same hostname as the page being indexed.
- > - Webflow's favicons are stored in an external assets CDN for performance, which exists on a separate domain from your site.
However, despite this, I have not yet experience problems on any site where I am using only Webflow's in-built icon support.
