Webflow's Workspaces have a rapidly growing set of capabilities, and there are a lot of different configurations you can run your workspaces under.

Here's a quick overview to guide you down the right path.

Use One FREE Workspace If...

You're just trying out Webflow, and...

  • Your site is initially small, no more than 2 static pages
  • You want to test out a range of features ( memberships, CMS, ECom ) in a limited capacity just to see if they'll work for you.
  • You have 2 or less unhosted sites ( no paid Site plan ) in your Workspace

Use One Freelancer / Agency Workspace If...

You need to be able to export the site for upload to another hosting service, OR...

You are building sites for others, and...

  • You want to be able to be invited into another Workspace as a designer guest
  • You are building multiple sites at the same time

Use the Designer-centric approach if...

  • You want to host these in your own Workspace, and bill clients for hosting
  • You will be the only one working in the Designer
  • If the site is localized, you will be the only one performing localized content updates
  • You want complete control over the site

Use the Agency-centric approach if...

  • You want to host sites in your client's workspace, with your client paying the monthly hosting fees directly to Webflow
  • You want the client to also have access to the designer
  • If the site is localized, you want the client to be able to update localized content themselves
  • You want the client to have complete control over the site, while you have designer access as well.
