Google uses your META description tag as one of the primary content sources for creating snippets in search results. It may use other sources as well, but your best level of control over what appears is to write good, usable descriptions.
In the HTML, this tag looks like this;
<meta name="description"> ... </meta>
In Webflow;
Page descriptions are managed under SEO settings.
Collection Page description work the same, and can use plain-text fields from your CMS record content.
This means that if you're writing a blog, you may want both;
- A rich-text field for the article content
- A plain-text fields for a brief summary, than is then linked to your SEO
Best Practices
Make sure to review the Descriptions for all of your pages.
For Collection Pages, make certain to craft them using Collection data so that each item is unique. For e.g. blogs and news articles that are primarily rich text, you'll want a plain-text brief as well for this purpose.
